Helping Ourselves
People come to church to help themselves with personal and spiritual growth. Beacon provides several ways to nurture mind and spirit. Chalice Circles are opportunities for people to gather in small groups to deepen the bonds among them and to strive to become better human beings. The Humanist Group is a forum for the discussion of ideas and a road to further understanding of important topics. Looking for something that's not here, such as a sitting group? Don't be shy! Beacon awaits your unique input.
Chalice Circles
Everyone at Beacon should consider attending one of our chalice circles, which give an excellent opportunity for worship and fellowship in a small group setting. Although some circles have started up there is a process to welcome newcomers; contact the leader of the individual group in advance. It is not necessary to attend Beacon to go to Chalice Circles, and friends are welcome. For more information or to offer helpful comments and suggestions, see contact list below or get in touch with Rev. Katie Stein Sather. Locations will be announced in church.
Humanist Group
The Humanist Group meets on the last Sunday of the month. Humanism is a philosophy that encourages people to think for themselves, valuing science and reason. It is focussed on human means for comprehending reality and pursuing good. Humanist ethics are based on respect for all life and regard human values as having meaning in the context of human life rather than the promise of life after death. Contact Anita Hagen.
