Rite of Passage ServicesBeacon is pleased to have a Lay Chaplain who can perform rites of passage—weddings, memorial services or funerals, and child dedications or blessings—for both members and the general public. Unitarian Lay Chaplains are licensed by the Province of British Columbia to perform legal weddings. Our services are what some would call spiritual but not religious. They are always tailored to the needs of the participants. A lay chaplain helps people from diverse religious backgrounds to create a service that respects the faith traditions of their families and guests. The lay chaplain will meet with you and offer practical suggestions to provide what you want and need. If you wish to do so, we invite you to visit a Sunday Service to get to know us: 10:30am at Sapperton Pensioners Hall, 318 Keary Street, New Westminster, BC, just off East Columbia Street near the Royal Columbian Hospital, two blocks from the Sapperton SkyTrain Station. Check our Sunday Services page for details. Beacon has welcomed the LGBT community for years and we are delighted to perform legal weddings for same sex couples. We will travel to whatever site you choose for your ceremony and will meet with you, offering suggestions and using our training and experience to help make your day a special one. Contact our Lay Chaplain, Sue Sparlin, to discuss your service needs or get more information. |
